This bushwalk takes you to the beginning of one of the most popular canyons in the Blue Mountains. Although this route doesn’t take you down the canyon itself (a trip only for the fit and well-prepared), you can get a taste of the canyon environment by spending a couple of hours exploring the slow running waters of Wollangambe Creek. Take your swimmers, a picnic and good non-slip shoes (Dunlop Volleys are good when climbing over slippery rocks and fallen trees in the creek itself).

Grade: Hard
Time: 3 hours, but allow extra for exploring
Distance: 6.3 km (plus side-trips) return
Ascent/Descent: 300 metres descent, 300 metres ascent
Weather: Best in summer
Closest public transport: None
